The International Study Centre "Urbino
and Perspective" promotes study and research so as to gain and deepen our knowledge
of the scientific and technical-artistic fields relating to the dukedom of Urbino.
Another objective of the International Study Centre is that of adopting all initiatives
that can be useful in transmitting the knowledge of the works of scientists, technicians
and artists of the dukedom of Urbino to a larger public. From the second half
of the 1400s up until the first half of the 1600s the dukedom of Urbino was the
residence of vast artistic, technical and scientific debate which made it one
of the main Renaissance centres of Italy and of Europe.
The most notable components
of this wonderful period are:
" studies dedicated to perspective in both its
artistic and mathematical aspects
" the retrieval of old mathematical and
technical texts
" the study of mechanics
" the invention and the perfection
of scientific instruments
